Stop all
Stop all is ScratchCraft’s panic button. One press silences everything that’s playing and stops both turntables, whatever mode you’re in.
The Stop all button
Section titled “The Stop all button”The red stop button at the right of the header is Stop all. Pressing it:
- stops every pad, Shape and audition, and cancels pads waiting for their quantize step,
- switches Shape Play off,
- switches both decks’ motors off and parks both platters at once, with no brake,
- fades every effect to dry over a moment and clears ringing echo and reverb tails.
The status line confirms: “Stopped: all pads and shapes, motors off”.
Stop all doesn’t touch the input monitor, a capture in progress or a take being recorded.
Stop all on a utility pad
Section titled “Stop all on a utility pad”A Utility pad can run Stop all as one of its actions, with a choice of two behaviours:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Disarm | The default, and the same as the header’s button: everything stops and both motors are switched off. |
| Hold | Stops everything the same way, but leaves the motors armed. The platters brake and wait until a motor is switched on or the transport starts. |
Stop all on a pad has no undo, and the pad doesn’t stay lit after running it. See Utility actions.
Motors, holds and the red jewel
Section titled “Motors, holds and the red jewel”Each deck’s Motor switch only arms the deck. An armed motor runs unless something holds it. The motor jewel, beside the deck’s name and larger under each platter on the Mix tab, shows which:
| Jewel | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Off | The motor isn’t armed. |
| Lit | The motor is armed and running. |
| Red | The motor is armed but held: by Stop all on Hold, a Brake pad, or the stopped transport. |
After the header’s Stop all (or Disarm), the jewels go dark: switch a motor on to start that deck again.
After Hold, the jewels turn red. The hold ends when you switch a motor on (clicking a red jewel does it), when a Motor utility switches it on, or when the transport starts. The deck then spins up again with its Torque.
Effect tails
Section titled “Effect tails”Stop all fades every effect unit’s output back to dry over about 20 ms and clears the tails, so echoes and reverb don’t ring on after the stop. Each unit’s on/off switch stays as it was. The transport’s Stop, brakes and fader cuts don’t clear the tails.
Stop pads instead
Section titled “Stop pads instead”To stop only some pads without touching the motors, use a Utility pad’s Stop pads action. It can stop the pads on deck A, deck B, both, one choke group or all, with a brake, a cut or each pad’s own release. See Utility actions.
